Half Way Through August 2021

Greetings, Baystate!

Yes we are half way through August!  Races have been running smoothly, thanks to the attention to detail and thorough planning of Race Directors, and the support of Volunteers.  We have a few names to add to the ever-growing list of BSTT Athletes- Glen Franks, Daneen Chabot, Karen Sharland and Kate Pillsbury!  Welcome (or welcome back)!!!!!!

Here are some short and sweet messages for ya:

  • Running Warehouse- did you know that we have a 10% discount code for this amazing, widely used site? Here it is! 10% Discount Code: BAYSTRI21T
  • Congrats to Ann Hession for winning the 50$ Volunteer GC to Running Warehouse! She volunteered at Sharon, and was pulled out of my lucky basket! Also, special thanks to Tom Cloutier, Linda Chiofar and Mary Barry!
  • Next up, we have the Cranberry Trifest! Mark Walter puts on a two day event that is always so awesome... If you are not registered and want to do any of the distances, check it out! Cranberry Trifest offers a terrific weekend of racing that includes a sprint distance triathlon and splash & dash on Saturday, August 21, 2021 and an olympic distance triathlon, aquabike and — new for 2021 — duathlon on Sunday, August 22, 2021. All events take place at the Ted Williams Camp located at 28 Precinct Street in Lakeville, MA. Sign up HERE.
  • If you are not racing but want to volunteer, click HERE for the Cranberry Trifest Volunteer options!
  • We are having a BSTT Training Day at Acoaxet Chapel in Westport on Saturday, August 28th!  I have an event page on Facebook,  so use that to RSVP, or if you are not on the page, simply shoot me an email (*reply here) and I will know you are coming!  On FB, go to the BSTT page, and then to Events.. we will have biking and running options for all!
IRONMAN BOUND!
  • Ironman Indiana!!!!  On Sunday, October 2nd, we have a BOATLOAD of BSTTers who will be enduring what we consider the pillar of athletic and mental challenges... the full iron distance.  There is NO such thing as an EASY Ironman.. let's give a HUGE PILE OF RESPECT to all who have trained to do this, and cheer them on as they are in the THICK OF TRAINING right now- and will be so ready to rock and roll in October.  I am so in awe of you all. Best of luck to Bill Roth, Darcey Fahey, Michele Brokmeier, Beth Shiebley, Amy Carlson, Debi Caprio, Carolyn Piper, Audrey Martinelli, and Arthur Madore!
  • And the SAME THING goes for Ironman Maryland- we have Lars Heise and Sebastien Vallee competing there!!!!
Here are some pics from Sharon!

Have a wonderful week!  A few Baystaters will be off to the rebirth of IM 70.3 Timberman this Sunday- wish us luck!!!!
