Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from the Ugly Sweater Tribe

These two.. so fun.

Welcome to the last month of the year- let's make it a good one!  The off season is a great time to balance letting your body recover with keeping a base training regiment.  As we get ready for the holidays, I have many things to celebrate and be thankful for.  Of course, there are many things that are also up in the air, crazy, and just not great.. but I am going to try to focus on what I can control and just keep on going.  In off season months when daylight is short, and work is loooong, I'm finding myself running out of time.  Looks like this Jack Wagon needs to shift gears and move her work outs to before work, LOL.. This reminds me of some advice from my inspo of choice- Navy Seal, Jocko Willink.

“Don’t expect to be motivated every day to get out there and make things happen. You won’t be. Don’t count on motivation. Count on Discipline.”― Jocko Willink, Discipline Equals Freedom: Field Manual

So, what is discipline in the off season?  The etymology of the word leads us to believe that in this work of consistency, we should be engaged in deepening knowledge, skill, speed, power, form, through work.  The difference in the off season, specifically, is that the volume and intensity buttons are turned down.. not off, just down.

New Member Spotlight!

Susan Clavin, BSTT VP got the 411 on some new members for us- here are a couple!

Liz Hickox is one of our newest teammates who is married to her business partner, Brian, also a triathlete. Liz is a Financial Planner and USAT Coach. When she isn’t racing, you can find her and her husband doing epic adventures such as the Rim2rim2rim race at the Grand Canyon, riding horses or traveling with their dog, Salty. The family recently purchased an Airstream and plan on wintering in Florida, traveling to races, meeting clients and enjoying life. Welcome to the team!

Sydney Ondrasik, husband Matt and dog, Winnie are recent transplants to South Dartmouth from Delaware. Sydney is a Physician Assistant who did her first triathlon in 2016 after a friend suggested it to her. Sydney has a running background, but she didn’t own a bike and didn’t know how to swim prior to her first sprint. Since then she has embraced the triathlon life, completing many races including 5 Ironman triathlons. Sydney placed 10th in her AG at Ironman Chattanooga, her very first one!! When not racing, Sydney loves to cook, ski and explore her new surroundings. Watch out AG 35-39, Sydney is coming for you!
CRS Update: We had to remove IM 70.3 Maine from the Destination Race for the 2022 Championship Race Calendar.. IM is not running it. The board looked through several options for 70.3s and we came to the conclusion that we will replace Maine with a late season IM for those who want that kind of experience, but will focus on the TUPPER TINMAN as the 2022 Destination Race. Here is the updated CRS for 2022.
